Continuing on with another form of daily prayer…

My wife Sarah and I have come to love saying The Chaplet of Divine Mercy – a very simple devotion written by St. Faustina who was inspired by Jesus to write this devotional.

Using the rosary beads, it is a very simple but very inspirational way of praying for the power of Jesus’ divine mercy. It also contains two very beautiful prayers that open and close the devotion.

1. Make the Sign of the Cross.

2. Opening Prayer:
You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the world. O Font of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelope the whole world and empty Yourself upon us.
O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the side of Jesus as a Font of Mercy for us, I trust in You.
O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the side of Jesus as a Font of Mercy for us, I trust in You.
O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the side of Jesus as a Font of Mercy for us, I trust in You.

3. (1) Our Father

4. (1) Hail Mary

5. (1) Apostles Creed

6. The Eternal Father:
Eternal Father, I offer you today the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

7. On the 10 beads of the decade:
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

8. Repeat 6 & 7 for the remaining decades.

9. Holy God:
Holy God, Holy Might One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Might One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
Holy God, Holy Might One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

10. Closing Prayer:
Eternal Father, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion – inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us so that in difficult moments, we may not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is love and mercy itself.

It only takes about 12 minutes to say this prayer and it can be repeated as often as you want each day.

Another great way to occupy your mind while driving down the road.
