Don’t you love how the Church weaves the readings of any given day to a common theme? It was so evident to me today (today’s readings)…as I began to read through the first reading, starting with the readings author – Jeremiah, I was thinking about how wise I would be in my blog to refer you to the story of Lazarus…well, the Church beat me to it. It’s funny too, because my first thought was – another reading in Lent from one of the prophets. I started to think that with all these readings the Church has picked this Lent, a lot of them are coming from the prophets, which led to this thought popping into my head…
“Then Abraham said,
‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded
if someone should rise from the dead.'”
then, as I started reading the Gospel reading, I smiled to myself.
Spend some time this Lent reading the message being given to us by the Prophets. Their message is powerful and to repeat what was stated above, if we can’t listen to that message, how will we ever appreciate what we will celebrate on April 1?
Prayer/Reflection suggestions:
Read from one of the Books of the Prophets
Say a Rosary: Thursday, the traditional and my 7-day Rosary are in sync – The Luminous Mysteries
Recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
Christ chooses His words, and his colors, wisely. Look up the definition of the color purple “There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments…” and spend some time thinking about that.
