Please pray for my brother Jeff.  He is a firefighter and fell at a call a few months back and suffered a head injury.  I had lunch with him a few weeks ago and he explained all he was going through.  I heard from his wife yesterday and it seems much more severe than my brother explained to me.  Long story short, he is having more tests done and will be going through some therapy.  Please pray for him and his family as they go through this.

I had a wonderful thought thinking about today’s readings.  Jesus, when asked about the greatest law, gave the famous response of…

Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.

The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”

To which the scribe replied “Well said Teacher”.

So, if Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law, if Christ is both God and Man, doesn’t it stand to reason the best way to fulfill what Christ has instructed me to do is by accepting Christ into my life, into my heart, mind and soul?  If I do this would it not follow that I would love my neighbor in the same fashion?  Christ is the fulfillment of the Law; I am called to be Christlike, an heir to the kingdom.  If this is so, then I too must follow in Christ’s example and love the Lord my God with all my mind, strength and soul.  I too must love my neighbor as myself.  In doing this, then I will not be far from the Kingdom of God.

And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
“You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

Do something great for the Lord today.  Pray the Sorrowful Mysteries; get to Mass if you can.

God’s will, not mine be done.

Be not afraid.

Jesus, I trust in you.
