I will keep it somewhat short and sweet this morning.  I’m wanting to go to my daughter’s soccer game this afternoon (about 2 hours from the “LOU” and I still have things at work that need to get done…still working for the “man”.

So – short and sweet.  Let the Lord knock you off your “ass” today.  Allow Him to blind you with His love so you have no choice but to listen to Him.  Listen to Him.  He will not lead you astray, He will not burden you with more than you can handle.  Let Him use you to fulfill His mission.  Let Him use you so others can see and experience the fullness of His love.  I don’t care how long you’ve been away from the Church; God doesn’t care.  Read closely our first reading from the Acts.  After getting knocked down by Jesus, Saul was blind and neither ate nor drank for three days.  This was a man who was heading to Damascus with the High Priests authority to persecute any MEN or WOMEN who ” belong to the way”.  In 3 days he was a changed man…

“Saul, my brother, the Lord has sent me,
Jesus who appeared to you on the way by which you came,
that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
Immediately things like scales fell from his eyes
and he regained his sight.
He got up and was baptized,
and when he had eaten, he recovered his strength.

He stayed some days with the disciples in Damascus,
and he began at once to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues,
that he is the Son of God.

He got up and was baptized and when he had eaten, he recovered his strength.  I would be willing to bet dollars to donuts that the food he strengthened himself with was not a double cheeseburger but the food we read about in today’s Gospel.  He partook in the Eucharist, because only the Eucharist could give this man the strength necessary to then do what he did…something great for our Lord.  We are told – by Christ himself:

For my Flesh is true food,
and my Blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.

Get knocked off your ass, get to confession and then partake of the Bread of Life.  Then you too will be not only able, but you will desire to do something great for our Lord today.

Tomorrow we will finish with the last of the 7 gifts – Fear of the Lord.

God bless you all.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid.

Jesus, I trust in you.
