The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, you live in the midst of a rebellious house; they have eyes to see but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious house.

It is my utmost prayer that the Church, the bride of Christ, survives the abuse inflicted on it from some of its own.  It is also my prayer that those abused by the so called shepherds of our Church, who abused their flock for their own personal gain and satisfaction, are able to find it in their hearts at sometime to forgive as we are called to do in today’s Gospel.  It frightens me the power of Satan is so great that even our Shepherds who guide our flock – men called by God –  can so readily abandon all that is good and just and inflict this pain upon their sheep.  It frightens me that after succumbing to the snares of the devil, how they are able to justify their sin and inflict even more pain upon the flock by having those who have been abused to remain silent and suffer quietly so they can carry on their “works” for the Church.  The anguish I feel right now pails in comparison to those who were directly abused.  But as bad as I feel, I am also called to forgive, not once, not seven times, but seventy seven times.  I must continue to be faithful to God and I will continue to be faithful.  My life would literally be empty without the joy I get as a member of the Catholic Church.  I cannot – I will not let the works of the devil and all those who CHOSE to follow Satan change my love of the Church and my love of God.  I must pray even harder for the good works of the Church to carry on and prevail against the den of inequity that Satan fosters.

Do not forget the works of the Lord!

They tempted and rebelled against God the Most High,
and kept not his decrees.
They turned back and were faithless like their fathers;
they recoiled like a treacherous bow.
R. Do not forget the works of the Lord!
They angered him with their high places
and with their idols roused his jealousy.
God heard and was enraged
and utterly rejected Israel.
R. Do not forget the works of the Lord!
And he surrendered his strength into captivity,
his glory in the hands of the foe.
He abandoned his people to the sword
and was enraged against his inheritance.
R. Do not forget the works of the Lord!

Do something great for our Lord today – pray for the healing of His flock.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid; just have faith.

Jesus, I trust in You.
