Brothers and sisters: Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ.

I wonder if Richard submitted his wedding date to the Vatican too!  The readings these past couple of days have offered great words of Wisdom and today’s readings don’t disappoint.  Our first reading from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is a testimony to what the bride and the groom are to be for each other.  Both willing to submit and offer their lives for the good of the other.  I’m not sure why this reading has become so “controversial”;  I did some quick research and came up with this article that does a much better job of explaining it than I could ever attempt at…you can access it here.

The Responsorial Psalm is another work of art to reflect on…

Responsorial Psalm PS 128:1-2, 3, 4-5

R. (1a) Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
Blessed are you who fear the LORD,
who walk in his ways!
For you shall eat the fruit of your handiwork;
blessed shall you be, and favored.
R. Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine
in the recesses of your home;
Your children like olive plants
around your table.
R. Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
Behold, thus is the man blessed
who fears the LORD.
The LORD bless you from Zion:
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
R. Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
These are great words of advice from the mouth of the Lord.  Richard and Megan, Grace and Chris, Jerome and Megan, Cecilia and Garrett – heck, Sarah and Jerry – take time to reflect on these words from our Holy Bible.  Love your spouse as much as you would love yourself, be subordinate to each other – disregard the modern teachings that put yourself first and all others second.  Fear God – in layman’s terms, understand the awesome power of God.  How awesome is His power?  Let me offer this example of His great power and wisdom.  He brought Mom and I together; He blessed us with you our children and now He has brought into your lives your beautiful spouses.  Our God is awesome and He is truly the one to be submissive to.  So if you truly believe that God brought you together, submit to that love and let that love carry you through your life.
Do something great for our Lord today.  Wives, be submissive to your husbands.  Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved His Church.
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
