How many of you do the Advent Calendar? Don’t know what that is? Here is an explanation as offered by Wikipedia. We used to do one of these in years past. We had one slight problem – our children. After we opened the “window” for the first day of Advent and one of them saw there was a chocolate candy behind it – well, let’s put it nicely – sometime between the opening of that window and the next day, all of the windows had been opened and all of the candy was gone. It kinda killed the anticipation of what Advent is supposed to offer.
Where am I going with this? Christmas is 4 weeks away. We have a full season – the Advent season – to celebrate and enjoy. Use these 4 weeks well. Wake up early and read the scriptures; wake up early and say a prayer or two. Stay up a little later and think about your day – what you did right, what you did wrong and what you can do better. Use these 4 weeks to build up that anticipation on the coming of Christ. Be like a child again (well, not like my children) and use these 4 weeks to make yourself a better person. Prepare yourselves and make YOU the perfect gift for our Savior. He wants nothing more; He expects nothing less.
Do something great for our Lord today – Stay awake, be ready. You do not know the hour when the Lord is coming. Stay awake, be ready. The Lord is coming soon!
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
