I mentioned a few days back that I was going to spend the next 6 weeks studying the scourging at the Pillar. In doing some web research, I was able to the find the works of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich. Blessed Anne dedicated her life to Christ and was blessed with many visions from God in regards to the life of Christ and even more important to me right now, the scourging of our Savior. She kept a diary of her visions and they have been published in a book entitled The Dolourous (Sorrowful) Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. If you chose to read along with me, the hyperlink will take you to this site. I will tell you that I have started reading this and it is not an easy read. Her visions have her in close quarters to all that happened and much detail is written here that I had never heard before. It is not easy, but for my Lenten journey, it is necessary. I hope to share more of what I read in future posts. I have one “simple” goal these next 6 weeks and that is to try and comprehend how one man could love the world, could love His Father so much that he would willingly accept the sufferings that were brought upon Him. He accepted them not for His glory, but for His Father’s. Not for His salvation, but for mine.
Do something great for our Lord today – meditate on and pray the Sorrowful mysteries.
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
He must increase; I must decrease.
