How many remember that song from Hee Haw? Deep dark depression, excessive misery…I’m feeling that way right now and could use your prayers. April 13th, what should be a beautiful spring day – do a little yard work, fix a pimento cheese sandwich and turn on the the Masters Golf tournament right? Not this guy. I will be spending my day at Orlando’s in South County learning about Article 250 of the National Electrical Code – Grounding AND Bonding (and no, not James Bonding). Stop laughing – it’s not helping my depression.
On a more serious note, tonight, with the vigil Mass, starts my favorite week of the year – Holy Week. I hope be able to post next week but no promises. Starting tonight, I will be at St. Mary Magdalen everyday/night through next Sunday.
4-13/14 – Palm Sunday Masses
4-15 – a chance for me to get one final practice for Holy Week
4-16 – Penance service from 6-9 (Sarah and I play music quietly for those 3 hours)
4-17 – Tenebrae Service
4-18 – Holy Thursday Mass
4-19 – Good Friday Service
4-20 – Easter Vigil Mass
4-21 – Easter Sunday
You won’t need me for inspiration next week – Christ took care of that Himself. I beg that you take full advantage of all the spiritual opportunities your parish offers next week. St. Mary Magdalen is so serious about this that all other parish activities are told to stand down – no meetings, no sports, no scouts (the kids are pushing for the no school clause but that hasn’t happened yet).
Do something great for our Lord – clear your calendar next week and get yourself to Church to celebrate the most solemn week on our calendar.
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
He must increase; I must decrease.
