We are witnesses of what things? Have you witnessed the destruction of Christ? Have you witnessed Him rise above this destruction only to reveal to you His glory? I believe I have and I believe you may have too.
Today’s readings tell us all how we took part in the Crucifixion of Jesus but they don’t stop there…they also tell us we can receive forgiveness of these sins but in doing so we must act as witness’ to the risen Christ. Through the gift of the Paraclete, given to us all as a gift from God, we are given the strength and courage to profess to all the Jesus Christ is Lord! We are a people of repentance; we are a people of truth; we are children of God and as such, heirs to the kingdom.
So what about us witnessing the destruction of Christ you ask? You don’t have to look very hard to find this. How about our clergy abuse scandal? Abortion? Politics? Prejudices? The list is longer than this, but I believe you get the point I’m trying to make. Whatever it is that pulls us away from God, whatever it is that causes us to doubt the existence of our Holy Triune God acts as a divide that separates us from our God and therefore works in the destruction of Christ. We must fight these divisions on a daily basis. We must continually repent as it is by our human nature that we are sinners. We must believe in the Gospel – the GOOD NEWS taught to us by Jesus. In Christ – and only in Christ – can your mind be opened up to the meaning of the scriptures…
He said to them,
“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you,
that everything written about me in the law of Moses
and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”
Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
And he said to them,
“Thus it is written that the Christ would suffer
and rise from the dead on the third day
and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins,
would be preached in his name
to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things.”
The Apostles. upon witnessing the Risen Jesus and upon receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, went from men cowering behind closed doors into the streets professing this Truth. We have been given the same message; we have been given the gift of the Spirit; we too must come out from our hiding place and profess, witness to all, the Truth. How? Accept the call from God…
May you be the window so all see Christ, may grace and mercy flow from your Heart. May the road less traveled become your path and may God bless you and keep you from harm.
Today you start your journey, a mission for our God. Continuing Christ message to strangers near and far. Gathering God’s people, a witness to His love. Touching and healing their hearts.
May the strength of Christ rise in you, a strength drawn from His Cross. May the light of Christ shine in you to those living in the dark. May all your trust be in our Savior in times of doubt and fear and like Christ Jesus, may you give your all to God.
You’ll bring the fruits of the Holy Spirit to all who hunger for His ways. Show them patience love and kindness ’til they surrender to His Love. May the wisdom of the Spirit guide your every move and through your faithfulness, may you find peace in God above.
Make this your theme for today…
O LORD, our Lord,
how glorious is your name over all the earth!
What is man that you should be mindful of him,
or the son of man that you should care for him?
R. O Lord, our God, how wonderful your name in all the earth!
Do something great for our Lord today – be a witness to His rising. Be that WINDOW so all see Christ. You say your window is a little dirty – use that holy Windex we call a confessional and make it sparkly and bright again.
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
He must increase; I must decrease.
