Open our hearts, O Lord, to listen to the words of your Son.

“Do you understand all these things?”

The Kingdom of heaven is like…

Do you want to know what the kingdom of heaven is like?  Where do you want your final resting place to be?  God give us two choices.  God GIVES US the choice.  We decide where we will go after our brief time here on earth.  It is an important choice too – it will last for eternity.  Like Monte Hall once said – do you want curtain A or do you want curtain B?  The only difference here than on the game show “Let’s make a Deal!” is that you already know what’s behind each curtain…

Curtain A – Heaven:

a treasure buried in a field,
which a person finds and hides again,
and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

like a merchant
searching for fine pearls.
When he finds a pearl of great price,
he goes and sells all that he has and buys it.

the righteous will shine like the sun
in the Kingdom of their Father

a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind.
When it is full they haul it ashore
and sit down to put what is good into buckets.

Curtain B – Not Heaven:

The Son of Man will send his angels,
and they will collect out of his Kingdom
all who cause others to sin and all evildoers.
They will throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.

a net thrown into the sea,
which collects fish of every kind…What is bad they throw away.
Thus it will be at the end of the age.
The angels will go out and separate the wicked from the righteous
and throw them into the fiery furnace,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.

There seems to be a lot of “wailing and grinding of teeth” should I decide to choose Curtain B.; 9 out of 10 Dentists do not recommend grinding of teeth.  So the choice to me is clear – I want to live in the promised land with God.  I want to spend eternity praising the God of heaven and earth.  I want to inherit the kingdom.

So how do I do this?  I must say Yes.  I must choose to follow God.  I must walk along the narrow path.  My whole life must be committed to God.  Sounds easy right?  It isn’t, but when I fall, I must get back up and continue the life of righteousness.

This entire week of Gospels has been based on “whoever has ears ought to hear…”  Christ tells us that there is a heaven and there is a hell.  Read what Christ has said to us.  Believe in what Christ has instructed us to do.  Take my advice and choose Curtain A.

Do something great for our Lord today – map out your path to Heaven knowing that the fullness of life everlasting awaits you when you get there.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid; just have faith.

Jesus, I trust in You.

He must increase; I must decrease.
