Ever this day be at my side. To light, to guard, to rule, to guide.

How many of you were taught that prayer in your youth?  Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits thee here.  Ever this day be at my side.  To light, to guard, to rule, to guide.  How many of you still pray it today?  I’m not afraid to tell you that I have started reciting this prayer everyday.  Why you ask?  Let me explain.

In my view, this prayer is much more than a child’s prayer to be said before bedtime.  It is a prayer that proves how much God loves each one of us.  He loves us to the point that He has assigned to each of us our own guardian; you are not part of a group where the angels attention would be divided among many but you have been given your own angel which it’s soul purpose is to protect you.  How many times did you come up with a solution to a problem that had you stumped?  To LIGHT. How many times have you narrowly avoided a car accident?  To GUARD.  How many times times have you done “what Jesus would do”?  To RULE.  How many times have you thought is this really the right thing to do?  To GUIDE.  My point is that whether we know it, or dare I say even believe it, we have a spiritual mentor on our side that God has gifted to each and everyone of us.

Do something great for our Lord today – take some time to think about that gift He has given you.  Say that prayer and think about all it truly means.  I am a witness to the positive effect it will have on your life.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid; just have faith.

Jesus, I trust in You.

He must increase; I must decrease.
