Lord, great and awesome God, you who keep your merciful covenant toward those who love you and observe your commandments!

We were asked yesterday at Mass how our Lent was going?  Might I ask you the same this morning?  I don’t wan’t to ask, nor do I need to know, what you “gave” up for Lent.  What my question refers to is what are you “doing” for Lent – what are you doing to bring you closer to God?  Bring you closer to the Passion our Lord endured for all of us?  What is it that you’re doing to challenge your faith life and draw you deeper into the mystery of your faith?

Do you mind if I make a couple of suggestions?

The Dolorous Passion of Christ

Today’s Readings

The Day Christ Died by Jim Bishop

a daily Rosary

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Stations of the Cross

Jesus Christ Super Star by Andrew Lloyd Weber

Jesus of Nazareth (TV Mini Series for 1977)

The Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson

These have been a great inspiration for me in the past, the present and will be in the future.  Chose one, chose all, find your own but find something that inspires you and makes your Lent a blessed and inspirational event for you.

Do something great for our Lord today – find a way to meditate on His great sacrifice.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid; just have faith.

Jesus, I trust in You.

He must increase; I must decrease.

Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.

But you man of God chose righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience and gentleness.  Compete well for the faith.
