I took a little creative liberties with the first reading this morning…
Thus says the LORD:
Lo, I am about to create new heavens
and a new earth;
The things of the past shall not be remembered
or come to mind.
Instead, there shall always be rejoicing and happiness
in what I create;
For I created the United States of America to be a joy
and its people to be a delight;
I will rejoice in the United States of America
and exult in my people.
No longer shall the sound of weeping be heard there,
or the sound of crying;
No longer shall there be in it
an infant who lives but a few days,
or an old man who does not round out his full lifetime;
He dies a mere youth who reaches but a hundred years,
and he who fails of a hundred shall be thought accursed.
They shall live in the houses they build,
and eat the fruit of the vineyards they plant.
I believe that this message Isaiah delivered to Jerusalem so many years ago is a message that we here in the States (or any other Country for that matter) need to hear today because Isaiah’s message is still true. God creates us all to be a JOY so we should all take refuge – especially now – in God’s joy.
Do something great for our Lord today…now, more than ever, give you burdens over to the God who wants to bear them for you. Rest easy in the love and peace of Christ.
God’s will, not mine, be done.
Be not afraid; just have faith.
Jesus, I trust in You.
He must Increase; I must decrease.
Lord, if you wish, You can make me clean.
But you man of God, chose righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience and gentleness Compete well for the faith.
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion – inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us so that in difficult moments we may not despair not become despondent but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
