Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!

The Thanksgiving Holiday has always been my single favorite day of the year. When we were children, it was the one day of the year that we would break bread with both sides of the family. Breakfast at my Dad’s parents house or sometimes his brother’s rectory. After filling up on bacon, eggs, biscuits and jelly, we would head back home and Mom would start prepping for the big feast that evening. Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, rolls, green been casserole, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pies, apple pies and once we turned 13 – Grandma Dorhauer’s Pecan Pie. Great memories.

It is still to this day my favorite day(s) of the year. Tonight my kids will be here for dinner and our first annual Turkey Trot and Teresa’s (and the grandkids) first experience with “Camp Dorhauer”. Tomorrow morning, Sarah and I (and anyone else who would like to go) will be at St. Mary Mag’s celebrating Mass with our spiritual family at 9 AM. Then it’s back to the house to prepare for the feast on Thursday night with Sarah’s side of the family. Bumper Pool, Mario Soccer, Cards, Cards, Cards and a walk later in the day to see who has their Christmas lights up in the neighborhood. Clean up and get to bed and get ready to do it all again on Friday when my sister and her family will come over to celebrate Thanksgiving.

I LOVE THANKSGIVING – did I mention that yet?

No better way to start my day today than by giving thanks to the loving God who inspired this great country we live in and no better way to do that than to share today’s Responsorial Psalm with you…

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!
Sing to the LORD a new song,
for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
his holy arm.

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
toward the house of Israel.

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!
Let the sea and what fills it resound,
the world and those who dwell in it;
Let the rivers clap their hands,
the mountains shout with them for joy.

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!
Before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to rule the earth;
He will rule the world with justice
and the peoples with equity.

Great and wonderful are all your works, Lord, mighty God!

Do something great for our Lord today – take time to thank Him for making you – in His image and in His likeness. Take time to look at the world around you and how beautiful that creation is. Take time to be Thankful.

God’s will, not mine, be done.

Be not afraid, just have faith.

Jesus, I trust in You.

He must increase; I must decrease.

Lord, if You wish, You can make me clean.

But you man of God chose righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patiencence and gentleness. Compete well for the faith.
